I heard there was a sighting of a pink dolphin this morning on the radio so I went to
snopes.com to see if it was true. The site had this image posted and reported that the dolphin is infact real and pink is it's genuine color. It is so cute and unique. I didn't know what to believe at first because you can do so much with photoshop these days ;)
The rare
pink bottlenose dolpin is albanio and was spotted in Louisiana. Apparantly she has been around for awhile. The above photograph was taken in 2007 at the Calcasieu Lake in Louisiana. While researching, I also found that
pink dolphins live in the Amazon Rainforest as well. They are born gray and then turn pink as they get older. It is an endagered species. They are known to live for forty years in their own habitat but if held captive they usually only live for four years. That is so sad. I hate to see animals taken from their habitats.
