Honda is the first to provide us with a commercial hydrogen fueled car. It runs from a fuel cell battery that is powered by hydrogen. They have estimated that the
Honda FCX Clarity can drive about 280 miles before it needs to refuel. It is said to be twice as efficient as the hybrid vehicles. Of course, this means there must be enough fueling stations around where the hydrogen cars are sold so they can be refueled. As of now, I believe Southern California is the only place where refueling stations were built to support the use of the FCX. It costs about $600 a month right now to lease this hydrogen vehicle. You are also required to live near a hydrogen refueling station to qualify for the lease. It is pricey right now but it is a ground breaking concept. This solution sounds like a great alternative to oil.
